Top Four Airbnb Rentals in Lutsen, Minnesota

Unique North Shore Properties
Unique and beautiful Airbnb rental properties can be found all over Lake Superior’s North Shore. I’ve been lucky enough to stay at four Airbnb homes in Lutsen, each with its own personal touch. From an eco-friendly dome to a lakefront villa and a house made from shipping containers, you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for!
All four of these rental properties are in Lutsen, which is a great place to be year-round with Lutsen Mountains nearby for fall hiking and winter skiing, restaurants, the North Shore Winery, and some of my favorite hikes including Cascade River State Park and Oberg Mountain, and Grand Marais just 20 minutes up the road. Know that prices can vary greatly based on season, holiday rate increases, weekends versus weekdays, and other factors. Read on for my roundup of the four most memorable Airbnb homes I’ve stayed in Lutsen, Minnesota.

1. Live Klarhet
I knew I would enjoy my stay at the Live Klarhet domes, but I underestimated just how much I would enjoy it. Nestled in the woods on a hill these four domes feel so private and peaceful. There’s a full bathroom in each dome with a toilet, a large shower, and a sink with running water. There’s also a tiny kitchen with a small stove, mini-fridge, and sink. There are snowshoes to use so you can explore the property, a nightly communal bonfire, and board games you can find in the activity shed. There is no WiFi on the property so be sure to bring a good book or magazine and leave the laptop at home. And don’t forget to say hello to the friendly goats!

2. Ham’s Haus
Ham is the owner’s French bulldog, and yes, this place is super dog-friendly! Ham’s Haus is a spacious, and modern home made from shipping containers, but you’d never know it. With giant windows overlooking Lake Superior, a cozy gas fireplace, a spacious kitchen and so many beautiful modern touches, it’s the perfect place to stay for a cozy trip up north. There is also a large dog bed, dog bowls, and a fenced-in area attached to the home, which you can easily access from the bedrooms. Ham’s Haus is nestled amongst the pines in between Lutsen Mountains and downtown Grand Marais, making it a wonderful spot to go out and explore, or stay in and read by the fire.

3. Lutsen Sea Villas
We recently stayed at Lutsen Sea Villas, which is part of Odyssey Resorts. There are many units to stay in, but I highly recommend you book E3, which is the closest unit to Lake Superior! Each unit is slightly different, some have one bedroom, and others have three. Unit E3 has two bedrooms and four beds, two bathrooms, and a large kitchen. Waking up to the sunrise over Lake Superior is an extremely memorable experience. You can also enjoy a cozy fire each night, or play board games at the large kitchen table. The E3 unit is beautifully remodeled and decorated and has all the amenities you’d need for a great weekend with friends.

4. Cascade Lodge
We’ve stayed at Cascade Lodge twice and had a great experience both times. Cascade Lodge has several options including a large lodge, small cabins, and even a few luxury homes. You can really find whatever level of comfort and price point you’re looking for. There is a spacious and charming lounge with a lot of natural light. It has a real “Up North” feel with plaid pillows, a fireplace, and large wooden beams running across the ceiling. If possible, request a room facing Lake Superior for beautiful sunrise views. There is also a restaurant on their property called Cascade Restaurant & Pub, which has indoor and outdoor seating areas with picnic tables and more great views of Lake Superior.

Lutsen is Amazing all Year
Whether you’re hiking Oberg Moutain and Cascade River State Park in July, skiing Lutsen Mountains in January, or chasing fall colors in October, Lutsen is a beautiful place year-round. And with four unique and distinctly different Airbnb rental properties, you’ll be able to find exactly what you’re looking for.
