My husband and I have never been to Grand Marais (I know! I don’t know how we haven’t made a trip up there after all these years). We finally planned a trip for this past weekend to celebrate my birthday. We did so much research and had the itinerary mapped out for each day with the best hikes, overlooks, breweries and restaurants.
Then Covid happened. The hotel shut down and everything closed.
I had a moment of sadness and frustration, but I got over it pretty quickly. I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned over the years is that crap happens and plans don’t always workout how we envision.
Walk around Lowell Park, Grab Growlers
My hubby and I regrouped, and planned an awesome day trip to Stillwater, another Minnesota gem that somehow we never made it to before this weekend! We checked out several overlooks, walked around Lowell Park and the downtown area. And grabbed growlers from Lift Bridge Brewery. It was an awesome birthday weekend!
The Stillwater Trolley wasn’t open when we visited because of COVID, but during the summer you can typically take a guided tour around town. It’s just $7.50, so I really hope we can check it out next time.
We can’t wait to come back when everything is open. There are so many cute shops and a ton of restaurants, wine bars and outdoor patios we want to experience.
