Lift Bridge Brewing Co.’s Unique Story

Lift Bridge Brewing Co. was founded in 2008 by four friends who came up with the idea over a game of poker. With humble beginnings, co-owner Brad Glynn remembers the days of removing his children’s car seats from his minivan to make room for the cases of beer he was delivering around the Twin Cities. Today, they’re one of Minnesota’s largest brewers known for quality beers and natural ingredients.

In 2015, Lift Bridge began crafting high-end non-alcoholic sodas with a lot of attention given to flavor and style. And in 2019, Lift Bridge launched its hard seltzer line. Today, Lift Bridge operates two production facilities and taprooms, the original location in Stillwater, Minnesota, and a second location in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Their mission is simple, elevate life’s moments with the perfect pairing. Read on for the top five reasons to love and visit Lift Bridge Brewing Co!

1. The Beer Selection

Lift Bridge Brewing Co. has a wide assortment of beers. Some are seasonal or made only for unique events like the Minnesota State Fair, like Key Lime Pie and Mini Donut, and many are available to enjoy all year long. Some of my favorites include the classic Farm Girl, which is Lift Bridge’s flagship beer. It has a slightly sweet and smooth body with golden malts, wheat, and oats and is well-balanced with hints of citrus and melon. It’s a Midwestern favorite for a reason! I also love the Hop Dish IPA with citrus and fruit aromas, Berry Blonde with subtle boysenberry and blackberry flavors, and the Mango Blonde, which is a refreshing summer option. From pilsners, and brown ales, to IPAs and stouts, you’re sure to find something you’ll love. Find the full list of Lift Bridge Brewing beers here.

2. The Non-Beer Options

Lift Bridge Brewing Co. offers several delicious non-beer options including non-alcoholic sodas with refreshing flavors like black cherry, root beer, and cream soda. And their assortment of hard seltzers is the perfect light option to enjoy during a hot summer day. From St. Croix Berries with blackberry and raspberry flavors to Blue Agave Margarita with natural lime, orange, and tequila flavors, these hard seltzers have unique and delicious flavors. I especially love The Bomb, which has a delicious bomb pop-flavored hard seltzer packaged inside a patriotic red, white, and blue can. It has a big explosion of natural flavors like raspberry, cherry, and lime with zero preservatives and only 120 calories.

Lift Bridge Brewing Co.’s flagship taproom is located in Stillwater, Minnesota. They have a large outdoor patio on a quiet street lined with trees, as well as a cozy indoor space with large wooden tables. And if you’re hungry, they sell snacks, like pretzels, popcorn, cheese curds, and ice cream. Feel free to bring the kids, or the dog and enjoy the afternoon.

4. Close to Downtown Stillwater

Stillwater is a beautiful sleepy town, and it’s one of my favorite places in Minnesota. This quaint town nestled along the St. Croix River has a huge selection of restaurants, bars, bakeries, and ice cream shops. The waterfront park is a beautiful spot to sit and relax or set up a picnic. There’s also a trolley, and even a gondola you can enjoy on the river! I’ve been to Stillwater many times and it never disappoints. Here’s a round of the most epic things to do in Stillwater, and here’s another blog post I wrote about a romantic weekend we had in Stillwater during a snowstorm.

5. Near Many Parks

If you’re looking for a fun day trip, stop by the brewery after hiking through one of the many beautiful parks in the area. Some of the best hiking spots near Lift Bridge Brewing are St. Croix Boom Site, William O’Brien State Park, Afton State Park, Willow River State Park, and Kinnickinnic State Park. Because Stillwater is right on the St. Croix River, several of these parks are in Minnesota and several are across the border in Wisconsin.

Support a Local Business

Along with the great drinks and atmosphere, it’s always great to support local Minnesota businesses. Lift Bridge Brewing is a wonderful place to spend time relaxing with friends, family, or your dog. They have a large variety of beers, hard seltzers, and non-alcoholic sodas, and they’re in a perfect location making it a fun place to visit before heading into downtown Stillwater or after a tough hike at one of the many nearby parks.

In addition to Lift Bridge Brewing’s flagship brewery in Stillwater, they recently opened a second location in New Richmond, Wisconsin. And if you can’t make it to the brewing, you can find Lift Bridge beer at most local Minnesota and Wisconsin liquor stores.
